Khon Kaen, Thailand was Campus Outreach’s first international expansion all the way back in 1998. Since then, the Campus Team in Khon Kaen has become entirely indigenous. However, in 2013 a team was launched out from there to a larger Thai city called Chiang Mai. Now, most LEAD Staff serve in Chiang Mai at Chiang Mai University (CMU) but the team there is trying to gain traction on the other 4 college campuses in that city as well.

Thailand is considered an “unreached” nation, with Buddhism as its national religion and less than 1% of Thais practicing Christianity. Buddhist temples are in every city across the country and people flock to them to honor their ancestors. For most, being Buddhist is synonymous with being Thai. It’s who they are and who their family has been for generations. Many Thais have never even heard of Jesus or learned about His love for them. LEAD Staff in Thailand have the unique privilege of sharing the Gospel for the very first time with many Thai students.

The Khon Kaen team is also launching a new expansion campus to Udon Thani, Thailand. The initial Udon Thani LEAD Team arrives in  August 2019, and another wave of LEAD Staff is needed in the near future. Additionally, for those interested in participating in the Thai ministry in a context outside of campus staff, Elementary School teachers are needed to be a part of the missionary school in Khon Kaen. Praise God for all He is doing in such a spiritually dark corner of the world!
