New Zealand has a rich history of Christian founding and heritage as well as bold missions and ministry, but in recent years much of the country’s spiritual landscape has changed. Most New Zealanders, or “Kiwis” as they’re called, are proud to say that their country is among the world's most secular. While spiritual and religious practices are varied, more and more New Zealanders today claim to have no spiritual beliefs. Less than 5% identify as evangelical Christians and those who do  face increased opposition from a society that is growing more and more spiritually apathetic.

Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island, is a city marked by growth and change. Recently, the city has experienced a great shift from its traditionalist roots, growth and rebuilding ever since a major earthquake in 2011.

LEAD Staff in Christchurch have the opportunity to work with students at the University of Canterbury to help shape a city and country that are changing and being rebuilt. These laborers will live, serve and grow alongside a community and church that seeks to see God change Christchurch for His glory, now and for eternity.

Engage, as Campus Outreach is known in New Zealand, also  has a presence on the University of Otago in Dunedin. Also located on the South Island, Dunedin is the island’s second largest city and home to over 20,000 university students, most of whom have never experienced the saving grace of Christ. The Dunedin team’s partnership with its base church, Grace Presbyterian Church, is one of the strongest in the Campus Outreach International Network.
